• I am now officially releasing WP-Dash to the public. WP-Dash is a dashboard replacement plugin for WordPress. It allows for drag and drop widgets and creation of 3rd-party widgets, so it can be as flexable and feature filled as you like. For screenshots, more information, documentation, and the download, visit https://somethingunpredictable.com/wp-dash/

Comments are welcome and highly appreciated. Developers are urged to make their own widgets and link to them on the wiki. Enjoy!

  • Wow, this thing is so f’ing cool. Definetly one of my favorite plugins now. ??

I’m looking forward to trying this one out!

Woo, already wrote my first widget for this plugin!

I missed not having a list of recent comments, so I wrote a widget to display the last 10.

Screenshot and a download link are here. ??

(That page is still a work in progress.)

“Care to post what the feeds are (or email the URIs if you don’t want to post them. [email protected]). My guess is that the feeds errored out in some way, so they were replaced.”

The feeds that reset are Powerline and Instapundit, both high traffic blogs so maybe they timed out?

Other MT feeds that I have worked okay so I don’t think it was a MovableType problem.

I’m betting on them being timed out, but you’re the script writer so you prolly know more than me about it. In any event everything was still kosher this morning.

This truly is an awesome plugin.

eragle, I can’t seem to reproduce the problem, so for now I’m going to hope that the feeds were down at that moment (but I’ll still keep my eyes open for a ghost bug)

Viper, its great to see some more 3rd party widgets developed. The more widgets we get, the more popular the plugin itself will become because of the range of features.

Aha, I take that back, it happened to me a few minutes ago. I just uploaded a new version that will hopefully fix the problem until I can look into some of the activate/deactivate hooks more.

What files do I need to replace for the fix?

Any widget writers out there make a “linked to” plugin? That’s really the only thing I miss about the old dashboard, seeing where someone has linked to my blog.

    The fix was only dashboard-rss.php

For the linked to, you can syndicate the feed by technorati, which is actually all the dashboard does to. Open a new RSS widget, and use https://feeds.technorati.com/cosmos/rss/?url=https://somethingunpredictable.com/&partner=wordpress

except replace https://somethingunpredictable.com/ with your blog address.

Viper, you read my mind. I came specifically to ask for such a widget, and lo & behold you’ve already done one! Thanks, going to grab it now….

    Haha, glad to share! ??

Oh, and just thought I’d let everyone know that I’m also working on a weather widget. It’ll be a part of the WP plugin WeatherIcon.

*rubs hands in glee* My my my my my – best plugin and extras EVER! I love my spamkillers too, but THIS one is SPECIAL!!

One thing I’d like to see with the Version Check plugin would be to have it check to see if wp-dash is installed and if so, is the Version Check widget installed and running, and if so, then NOT display the normal line in the header….

    ^^ +1

More and more 3rd party widgets are coming in. You can see the list of all the ones that I know of at https://www.somethingunpredictable.com/dash-wiki/index.php/Widgets and add any that aren’t listed.
