[Plugin: All in One SEO Pack] Not quite "out of the box"

  • It purports itself to be an “Out-of-the-box SEO for your WordPress blog” but I wasn’t really happy with the way it behaved. Once activated you get an in-your-face red banner directing you to it’s admin panel, as well as a WordPress warning about unexpected generated code; both of these will give you a what-the-heck-is-going-on gut-wrench. Next, before even getting a chance to see what is going on, you’re hit up to either donate or upgrade to a pro version. More off-putting than that is that even after configuring it with descriptions and keywords, no discernible code was generated, other than a mangling of my blog title. Judging by the plugin title, marketing hype, and configuration options, it looks like it could be just what you need; based on what it did for me, I’ll keep on looking.

    I’m not sure if you’re looking for support or just looking for an outlet to complain.
    If it’s the former, “even after configuring it with descriptions and keywords, no discernible code was generated, other than a mangling of my blog title.” was the only part I saw that’s relevant.

    -I’m not sure what you mean by “no discernable code was generated”. Make sure your theme properly calls the wp_head function.
    -I’m not sure what you mean by “mangling of my blog title” either. By “mangling” do you just mean “changing,” or did it do something specifically wrong? Keep in mind you have complete control over your title format with AIOSEOP.

    You mentioned that “it looks like it could be just what you need”. What exactly were you looking for that you didn’t find in this plugin?

    I am having some issues with descriptions not being displayed properly, but have commented about this on other psots so I won’t duplicate it here too. However, I read that I should make sure that wp_head is called properly by my theme and I was hoping you could tell me where I could verify this. The behavior I am experiencing is as if a function isn’t being properly accessed.
