• When I configured the general settings for All in One SEO Pack I set the home title to
Santa Monica Jewelry | Functional Art | Handcrafted Gifts

I then went back to general settings and changed the home title to
Artful Santa Monica Jewelry | Functional Art | Handcrafted Gifts
(this was after I submitted the sitemap to Google, Yahoo and Bing in case that matters).

But the results from a search still show only
Santa Monica Jewelry | Functional Art | Handcrafted Gifts
    as the title.

When I select the website itself from the list the page title reflects the change –
Artful Santa Monica Jewelry | Functional Art | Handcrafted Gifts

When I check the page source the title value is
Artful Santa Monica Jewelry | Functional Art | Handcrafted Gifts

I saw an earlier post that said to make sure that php wp_head
is just above is just about the </head> tag, which is is.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? The website is
    https://artfulhandcrafted.com

    Thanks

I should have mentioned the search I was doing – ‘jewelry, gifts, Santa Monica’

  • Hi Linda,

All in One SEO Pack is working correctly. The thing to understand here is that just because you set a title and description on your site does not mean that Google will immediately reflect this change in their search results. It could take weeks for them to crawl that page and update their index. If you want to speed this up then use Google Webmaster Tools to resubmit that page to Google but then you have to be patient and wait for them to update their index, it won’t happen overnight.

Wow, what a coincidence, that place is right by a hair salon where I drop off my mother-in-law every Thursday morning. I’ll have to look for it next week.

As @wpsmort stated, it might take a while for changes to appear in search results. Search engines have programs known as spiders or web crawlers which “crawl” through sites on the web, so given the number of different web sites out there, it might take some time, at least a day or two, maybe longer, for changes to your site to show up.

To CrouchingBruin…that IS a coincidence. Stop by the shop and say hi to my sister. Her name is Nancy. Let her know how you found her place…she’ll love it!

BTW – my changes are now there…Thanks.

Another couple of questions about all in one SEO.

Is there a way to change the title of an image (in the SEO panel)? By default it seems to insert the file name of the image. I’d like to use a more descriptive custom title instead.

Is it the all in one SEO plugin that inserts the filename of the image when you hover over the image or is that WordPress itself?

    Thanks,
    Linda

It would be better to be asking on the forum for that plugin – this one is for Twenty Thirteen theme specific questions.
