[Plugin: All In One Favicon] Display issues with IE and Chrome

  • I am currently using WordPress 3.4.2 and the All In One Favicon plugin.

    Both BACKEND and FRONTEND favicons display fine in Firefox

    Neither BACKEND nor FRONTEND favicons display in IE

    BACKEND favicon displays in Chrome, but FRONTEND does not display

    This seems slightly different from some of the similar display issues that others have had. Please advise. Thank you.

    Hi,
    it’s most likely a browser cache issue just like in the other cases. Did you already delete your various browser caches?

    A browser caches the favicon for a site (and it caches a non-existent favicon), so when a new favicon is used, it may not show up.

    Clearing the browser cache doesn’t help. It seems a great many people have had this type of problem with this plugin and IE/Chrome, but I’m just not finding solutions out there.

    I’ve tested this out on several computers running Firefox, IE, and Chrome. The same behavior happens in all cases.

    The only thing the plugin does is that it writes a standard HTML tag into the site which is interpreted by browsers.
    Usually, only IE is a problem (as if anything ever works in IE, no idea why anyone would use that browser…), I am curious why your favicon doesn’t seem to work in Chrome.

    As I mentioned, the frontend favicon isn’t displaying. It works fine for the backend icon when I’m logged in and at the WP dashboard. It’s very odd.
