    Hi, again,

In all my trying to figure out my previous getting events from Facebook, I hit the “Subscribe to google calendar,” thinking the subscription action went in the opposite direction. I thought this would actually do what the FEED action does.

Ok, dumb and dumber strike again.

In any case, now that I have finally figured out the FEED, and, even more important, I want the FEED to come from the google calendar, how do I undo the subscription to the google calendar.

It seems I’ll have an infinite loop here, ya know?

    thanks for any help,
    Susan

Once again, I have spoken too soon.

I just went to do something ELSE on my site and found that the FEED had replaced all the nice additions I made to the very simple google calendar entries to turn them into GOOD ai1ec calendar entries by, I suppose, its DAILY update. I thought it would look only for NEW events, not wipe out events it had already fed yesterday.

Is there a way to tell it NOT to update calendar entries, but feed in only NEW ones?

After all the time and money I’ve spent on ai1ec, am I really going to have to just dump it? This just will not work for me at all. I can’t make the changes to every event every single day.

For instance, the feed allows only ONE category for all events that are fed in. So ALL those events went back to “general” from the individual categories I’d put them in yesterday. I’d corrected the address format from the way google had it, etc. Now that’s all gone.

Help, if I may be so blunt,
    Susan

    Hi sglee2120,

Sorry to hear you are running into a few issues. Let me try to help:

    1. If you clicked on “Subscribe in Google Calendar”, this will import your ai1ec into your Google calendar. To delete this import, you should be able to go to your Google calendar settings, find the feed, then click “unsubscribe.”

    2. If you are talking about importing events into ai1ec, and ‘how to tell it to NOT update calendar entries’ then this can be done by importing the feed into ai1ec from WP dashboard > Events > Calendar Feeds, then after importing the events, “Remove” the feed, but when prompted choose not to remove the events. This will leave all the events in your calendar, but they will no longer be update by the feed. However, please know that your issue with losing the category information is probably related to a current bug which means that all automatic feed updates remove tag and category information. This will be resolved for the upcoming 1.9 release, however in the mean time your best option is deleting the feed (but keeping the events) as described above.
