• I’ve ran into a strange but serious problem. Last week I entered a new event but realized that I had entered the wrong start time when one of my patrons alerted me to a discrepancy in start times. I went to “Edit Event” and within the “Event Details” I noticed that my previously entered “Start date/time”, “End date/time” details were blank, even though I had previously entered them and the events were actually showing up on my website with start times. When I tried to enter new values in the blank spaces, nothing changed on my website and the fields remained empty after returning to the edit page.

Thinking this could be fixed by upgrading to 1.6.3, I went ahead and did so after uninstalling 1.5. Unfortunately this uncovered another bug with 1.6.3 as I realized that the styling of the text I had above my “default calendar page” (agenda view) was formatted with a white background instead of my default website background (perhaps a topic for another post?…) I decided to revert back to ver. 1.5 because I didn’t have time to explore the issue with 1.6.3. I was hoping that a fresh install of 1.5 would fix my problem.

Thankfully, it seemed to fix the problem and I was able to reenter my event details. However, the next day I checked to see if the problem remained resolved – and sure enough “start/end date/time” spaces were empty again.

Thinking I was dealing with a possible plug-in conflict, I deactivated all my plug ins and refreshed by browser cache. This actually fixed the problem momentarily. When I reactivated all my plugins things still seemed to be working fine (did this is a step-wise fashion to try and isolate the possible plug-in conflict.) However, after waiting a while and checking back – the problem reoccurred. When I purged my browser cache and checked again, things were fixed again.

So I’m not smart enough to know if this is a browser cache issue, a plug-in conflict or something else. Thoughts?

  • try disabling W3 total cache and try again – does that fix it?

Disabling W3 alone did not solve the problem, but disabling W3 and placing cloud flare into development mode fixed the problem. I’m assuming this will be a temporary fix and that things will stop working again. Once they do I’ll try any figure out the minimal steps to make things work again (ie – just putting cloudflare in to development mode?…)

So is this a caching issue? thoughts?

Ok. My “add events details” was still working up until yesterday morning. This AM I checked it and things were not working. I flushed the cloudflare cache (on cloudflare.com) and turned development mode on. I then refreshed my browser cache and logged back into my WP site and things are working again.

Ideally I’d like to see a more viable solution for this as I’m not the only admin of the site and the other admins will not be able to perform the above.

    Thoughts?

We will have to check what exactly is breaking.
Can you turn off cloudflare for wp-admin/* links?
Can we move the discussion on help.then.ly it will allow us to assign someone to this task to check it. Thank you.
