[Plugin: Akismet] Big comment numbers

  • Hello,
    I activated Akismet and within few months i count thousands of spam messages. In my posts i have some comments with link numbers #4666 and so on…
    Is it possible to delete this counting system so that the comments may have normal link numbers? (i.e. Comment 1: #28,Comment 2: #29 etc and NOT Comment 1: #12777,Comment 2: #16543 etc)

  • The number does not come from Akismet. Every time a post is placed in the comments table the number is increased by one. The same is true with post ID’s after page revisions and menu use. The comment ID is only used to link comment meta to the comment so in theory you could change both. But, possibly adding something like not being able to post a comment within 5 seconds of the page loading is something I found effective.
