[Plugin: Advanced Most Recent Posts Mod] Can't see "after excerpt link"

I have the settings to show date, 2 most recent posts, and link after excerpt (called read more here). the most recent post works fine (the first post in the series). The second post – the link doesn’t show up at all (it is like the block is too small because you can highlight a link, but you can’t see the “read more” text. In addition, below the second post bar, there is an additional “random” link to the first post and it says read more. It is like an extra “excerpt after link” to the first post. Random and seemingly out of order. Is there anyway to fix this?
