After some experimenting I discovered that if you have this option (‘Use excerpt as message’) enabled and write a little excerpt that the links aren’t grouped anymore (even when the excerpt is the same).

    hummmm…

but I do not usually write excerpt!!

You can solve my problem? for example write a excerpt automatically with the 1st sentence of the post ??

Let me think a day or so about it how this can be solved in the best way.

If you download and install the development version the site title will be used as message when there is no excerpt, but only of the option ‘Use excerpt as message’ is checked.

Thank you, I was able to use your solution. Unfortunately, I also found that when using the new “share” link it only shows “Platform Story Share”.

I noticed that plugins like Facebook Page Publish use the “xxx shared a link via xxx (app name)”. This won’t group all post under one box.

Do you mean the share link generated by Add Link to Facebook?

I noticed that plugins like Facebook Page Publish use the “xxx shared a link via xxx (app name)”.

Try installing the new development version and enabling the new option ‘Use links API instead of feed API’ on admin tab ??

This won’t group all post under one box.

    Why do you think that?

    (@framirezferrer)

It was the actual “share” from Facebook, not the one from Add Link to Facebook (that one comes in Spanish if I turn it on). Anyways, that is gone now.

The Link API does a good job. Apparently, it doesn’t group the posts but once the article is publish to Facebook I wasn’t able to change (update) thumbnails, excerpt or add message.

Anyways, I’ll keep waiting for your updates. Thanks for the excellent job!

Why not? Was there an error message?

    framirezferrer

    (@framirezferrer)

No error message at all. It just won’t change. It will only delete the post on the FB timeline or republish it with the same thumbnail and excerpt.

Also, when using the link API, it won’t add any custom message/excerpt entered prior publishing it from WordPress.

That may be caused by Facebook caching. Facebook does cache for a long time, up to a week. Do you have the Open Graph Protocol enabled? (a plugin option)

I have just tested it again and I have no problems with this. Look at the first screenshot here to see what is what. Do you have the plugin option ‘Use excerpt as message’ enabled?

The new link API feature contained a bug for importing comments from the personal wall (caused by a Facebook returning only a partial link ID). For the ones using this: update to the latest development version to solve it.

    Hi,

I’m having a problem which I’m not sure if is related to the subject discussed on this thread or on this other one.

Anyway, this is what is happening in my case: I have a Facebook page which is linked to my WordPress site with Add Link to Facebook. As you are all aware, Facebook is phasing out the old wall style for Pages and although I still didn’t upgrade to the Timeline style, I did a preview for my page.

This is how a post created with Add Link to Facebook looks like on the Timeline…

and this is the very same post on the old Wall style.

As you can see, the description text is not showing up on the Timeline preview, as well as the comments for this post.

Any idea why this is happening?

Sorry, when you mentioned “development version” I mistook it for the Pro version, which although I did make a donation back in 2011, I wasn’t sure if I was entitled to use it.

I tried that experimental feature you mentioned and it seems to do the trick.
By the way, I updated the existing link on the Facebook page by editing the post and checking the “Update existing link” checkbox. For some reason, comments that were posted directly on Facebook were deleted, as if the Facebook post was deleted (along with its comments and likes) and the new updated one was freshly posted. Is this normal?

If you donated more than $25, send me your PayPal e-mail address and you’ll get the Pro version.

For some reason, comments that were posted directly on Facebook were deleted, as if the Facebook post was deleted (along with its comments and likes) and the new updated one was freshly posted. Is this normal?

That is why there is a warning below the checkbox: ‘Comments and likes will be lost!’. The reason is Facebook doesn’t support updates, so an update is realized by a delete, followed by an add.
