Plugin activation fails

    Plugin activation fails. This seems to be an issue with a lot of plugins since upgrading to 3.5.1
    In apache error log I see the following:
    File does not exist: /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/bitcoin-payments-for-woocommerce, referer: https://siteXYZ.com/wp-admin/plugins.php

    Plugin is activated according to plugin page, and shows up in Payment gateways, but Bitcoin gateway option remains disabled even after manually enabling the payment gateway.

    I’ve no idea if this is an issue on my side generally, or if it’s an issue of some change in WP 3.5.1 causing a tonne of plugins to fail. Incidentally, I also have plugins that work fine…

    Just re-tested it with the latest version of WordPress 3.5.1, latest WooCommerce update.
    Activates just fine and settings are available.

    Try deactivating everything and retry – sometimes other rogue plugin can cause this.

    Thanks Gesman. Unfortunately no. I’ve run into this before long ago after a WP update, but WP fixed the problem a few days later. More recently the same issue came up but WP folks are saying it’s not their issue and to discuss with plugin maintainers. The WooCommerce guys sent me a patch for one of their plugins which fixed the problem, but I suspect as very few people are having this issue, it’s gotta be something infrastructure side, that happens to be repairable on the plugin side as well. I suspect though, that fixing on the plugin side may not be the right answer.

    Could it be your hosting account / file system permissions issues?
