Hi, I would like to find out a way one can connect their site to a backend spreadsheet file and when users search specific products they will be able to pull out the product information and it’s availability.

Also if there’s any other option this can be done, please share.

Please note: Product inventory of 900+ products will be loaded to a spreadsheet and that spreadsheet will have to be used on wordpress for the above. Currently there’s only few products shown on the site uploaded via WooCommerce.

  • Is there a functional or technical reason why you are not importing all 900 products from your spreadsheet into your WordPress website?

What is the goal? Is the goal for users to simply view information and inventory availability on the product, or is the goal for the user to make a purchase?

@corrinarusso the client thinks it might be a lot for their site which might end up affecting performance.

However the goal o f the is for users to simply view information and inventory availability on the product.

    900 products?

Sorry, but that’s literally nothing in terms of volume. The client is very misinformed. At 100,000 products, I may start to think about better cloud solutions, and load balancing etc. So this should not really be in the conversation.

If it were me, I would want to insert the products on the site presumably in a way where the user can sort the products based on criteria, and filter the products based on criteria.

If there is not going to be any online purchase transactions, pls pls do not use WooCommerce. There is no need for the overhead, or the complexity, etc, etc, etc

    I would:

This is very straight forward stuff, and 900 products will 100 percent not affect any performance. It’s not even close.

Once this has been completed, the client can dump their spreadsheet, and manage everything online in their site. The Advanced Custom Fields form will provide a bullet-proof form solution for your client to add / update / remove inventory without any technical knowledge.

Do it right the first time!
