• Yesterday we got a notification from our cPanel that the disk space of a client was at capacity. We thought this was ridiculous, as the last time we checked the website only took up about 3 GB of the 10 GB of disk space it had.

Upon closer inspection, it appeared that the folder wp-content/uploads/ithemes-security had grown to a whopping 7,6 GB in a very short amount of time with no apparent reason.

I’ve already solved the issue by uninstalling and re-installing the plug-in, but I would still like to know what could have caused this increase in order to prevent this from happening again.

  • More than likely you’ll need to review the iThemes Security Logging settings over in Security > Settings > Configure > Global Settings.

The directory you’ve mentioned is for Backups, Logging and MaxMind.

If it is the logging, I have my retention limit set to 8 days and I use both database and file logging; but your retention limit desire may be different.

Let me know if this helps!
