• Have been trying to install a contact form plug-in. Have tried three with no success so far. I notice that the plug-ins that came with WordPress show 777 permissions whereas the ones I have been trying to install show as 644. I was wondering if this is as it should be or whether they should be 777. Thanks for your advice, Andrew

  • I only know that a 777 permission code will give you complete control of your plug-in; however, be sure to write down the 644 permission code in case you need to change it back from 777.

In case you do not know how to change the permission:

    My host at:

    https://www.bluehost.com

allows me to merely right click, select chmod, enter 777 (or any permission code desired), click OK, and I am off and running.

Hope your host does the same, and I truly hope this has helped in some way.
