Hi all, I installed the smash balloon social feed/facebook feed so that my oembeds would continue working. I have logged into instagram and facebook with both of these plug-ins but they still don’t work. I also tried to uninstall/re-install and log in again, with no success.

At first I thought it was just not working because I embedded another Instagram user’s post, but now I’m realizing that it does not work with my own instagram either.

I’ve linked a page above that shows how neither is working. I would really appreciate this as I do tend to link out fairly often and want the images visible in my posts.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey @quarterexistencecrisis,

Thank you for reaching out to us for support, when checking your example page I can currently see working oEmbeds: https://a.supportally.com/91aDy6

I can confirm that they are also being powered by our plugin as they are wrapped in a div with class ‘.sbi-embed-wrap’ which is what our plugin does. If you are still experiencing issues, please clear any local browser cache and try again. If you have issues with Facebook posts specifically still, please direct me to a page where you are displaying these.

    Many thanks.

I know what the problem is! It is something else! (happened to me too!)

in case you use a Chromium-based browser, set the “tracker and ad blocking level of the browser on “no blocking” ! It does not happen if you use Firefox (even with “enhanced tracking protection on”, in its standard settings).

for some reason, the tracker blocking of the chromium browser blocks also the IMAGES (only!) that you should see in your embedded post (frame, IG, FB, etc.)
    Why – no idea!

It would be anyway very recommendable that smash baloon repairs this problem, as many visitors of all websites powered by smash baloon won’t know what is happening and why.

At least, smash baloon should include some text in the frame of the embedding that should warn the visitor/user to disable tracking of that site, in order to see the embedded postings. and in order to calm down some desperate web admins who do not know what the heck is happening ??

    Hey @horiamar,

Thank you for your input on this, I have replied to your separate post and will repeat it here for any visitors to see as well:

When it comes to the oEmbeds, if you inspect them, they are and have always been a way to automatically embed an iFrame on your WordPress website. What we do is allow for this to be done with an Access Token instead, since the Unauthenticated oEmbeds no longer work. It is still fully an iFrame taken directly from Facebook/Instagram – basically displaying their site on your WordPress site. We can not alter this further – an inherent property of an iFrame – and as such, can not control whether or not certain trackers or Ad Blockers affect the oEmbed and this lies fully in the hands of the creators of these blockers, as well as Facebook/Instagram. Thank you for your understanding, and for sharing what the issue was in your case!

For our actual user feeds we make use of caching, local storage and image resizing to minimize the amount of adblockers and trackers and in many cases our feeds are successfully displayed even when adblockers or trackers are used.

    Best regards,
