I have 9 podcasts on my website; 5 are public podcasts and 4 are private podcasts.

I added the PowerPress plug-in to my site and activated it for the 4 private podcasts via the category settings “Add Podcasting”. I put iTunes blocks via the plug-in for these 4 private podcasts. All working well.

The problem is with the 5 public podcasts. I did not activate the “Add podcasting” for these category podcasts and therefore can’t even activate the iTunes block option via PowerPress for these individual podcasts (which I definitely don’t want).

But 2 of these public podcasts suddenly disappeared from Apple Podcasts, and Apple support told me they have iTunes blocking tags on them.

Can someone please look at these 2 public podcasts and figure out how to remove the unwanted iTunes block tags?

    Here they are:

    Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi harris2021,

How were you publishing the podcasts on the site before activating PowerPress? If you were using a different podcasting plugin and/or a podcasting functionality built into your WordPress theme, that will cause conflicts. You have to choose one podcast-publishing solution for your site and use only that.

    Hi Shawn,

I am using the wordpress.com Business plan. So my podcast host has always been wordpress.com. The powerpress plug-in is the only podcasting plug-in I’ve added to the site and I activated the “don’t allow other plug-ins to modify the podcast feeds” to prevent any conflicts with other plug-ins.

The key question now is how do I remove those iTunes block tags from those two podcasts? The podcasts have been removed from Apple Podcasts (and other sourced platforms) as a result.

Can you help me to figure out how the Powerpress plug-in accidentally added those block tags so I my podcasts will appear again in Apple Podcasts?

Is there a way you can look at the rss feed code to see where/how those block tags were inserted? Perhaps that would give a clue?

Thank you for your help with this.

    Hi harris2021,

Thanks for the clarification. wordpress .com has its own podcasting functionality. You were most likely using that before activating PowerPress.

Any time you activate PowerPress, the plugin will automatically create Podcast Episodes for any Posts already on the site that contain enclosure tags. The only way to remove Podcast Episodes from posts after that is to edit those posts, check the box inside the Podcast Episode to remove the Podcast Episode and then update the post. There’s no bulk option to do this; you have to do it manually for each post.

    Shawn,

Thank you for your continued assistance.

I decided to re-check the 2 blocked podcasts today before I tried your latest suggestion.

Good news, they are back! I’m not sure what fixed them. I had been in discussion with Apple Podcasts support and they were looking into it, so maybe they fixed them. Unsure. I will probably hear back from them shortly and I will let you know.

Thank you again for your help with this.

Apple replied but only to confirm the block tags are gone. They didn’t have any insight about what caused the problem or what undid the problem.

Anyway, the important thing is that they are back to working normally : )

Thanks again for your help Shawn.
