I’ve got two problems with Jetpack on a clients site.

    1. On the debug tool (https://jptools.wordpress.com/debug/) using the domain (without www.) I get “Can not resolve your domain “A record” “, I mean obviously the A record is able to be resolved.

So, I tried changing the site to use www. since that was a fix that apparently worked for some people. Didn’t work in connecting Jetpack, but did allow me to get other debug tool errors.

    2. When trying to connect via the admin dashboard, get an endless loop of trying to connect and failing with the error code up top of “Unable to insert blog. …” (https://snipboard.io/4hPnc8.jpg)

But if I go to debug in the same admin area it says it’s all good (https://snipboard.io/tC1gvJ.jpg).

I’ve tried everything from disabling all plugins except Jetpack. I’ve curled xmlrpc.php and gotten proper responses, I’ve checked both mine and my clients accounts for unsuccessful connections. I’ve taken the reinstall steps multiple times.

So… any other options would be helpful. Thanks.

    Hi @surtin

I checked the site, and we had the .test domain suffix in our system, but now I changed it to .com. Could you please now disconnect and reconnect Jetpack to check? You can follow these instructions to do that:

    1. Go to the Jetpack menu in your WP Admin dashboard
    2. Scroll down to find the Connections area.
    3. Click Manage site connection.
    4. Click Disconnect and follow the prompts to complete the disconnection process.
    5. Click Set Up Jetpack button to connect your site to WordPress.com again.

If it is not working, you can try to reinstall the Jetpack plugin and then connect it with your WordPress.com account.

This handy guide explains the full process in more detail:

Is as far into Jetpack setup it can get at this point. Far as I can tell, theres never been a successful connection to a WordPress.com account.

    Hi @surtin,

I see that the site is completely disconnected from any account at the moment, which is a good place to start.

Let’s see if we can facilitate the reconnection by going for a full reinstall reset. Try to deactivate and delete Jetpack entirely, and then try to reinstall it – it won’t delete any data previously recorded, as it’s all stored in our remote servers.

To remove Jetpack, you can FTP into your site and delete the folder wp-content/plugins/jetpack. (If you’re not sure how to do this, ask your hosting company for help.)

After that’s done, you can reinstall Jetpack by following these instructions:

Let me know if that solves the problem ?? Thanks!

Unfortunately the problem is still there.

Stuck on the same screen as shown previously (https://snipboard.io/V2KL1c.jpg).

    Hi @surtin

Firstly, I see that there is a site at both the www. and non-www. version of your site’s URL. This could cause issues, so I’d suggest making sure that whichever one you want to use, the other one is redirected there.

Once that’s done, can you try these steps to clear the Jetpack options from your database?

    1. Deactivate Jetpack on your Plugins page
    2. Install and activate this plugin to remove the Jetpack data from your database: https://github.com/automattic/jetpack-addons/archive/add/jp-rm-options.zip
    3. Check to make sure this plugin is now deactivated and deleted from your site, since it performed its job.
    4. Try to re-activate and connect to Jetpack again.

Let us know how that goes.

    Nope. Still didn’t work.

I disabled every plug-in. Swapped the theme. Turned off Cloudflare proxy. Still the same unable to insert blog error.

    Hi @surtin,

My colleague Dan’s hunch was on point: I can see two different Jetpack connections (related to two different site IDs) for your site – one with the www and one without www.

The www version of your URL is now redirecting to to the non-wwww URL, however, when heading to your site by clicking on the non-www URL, Cloudflare sends me to a site whoes URL includes lots of appended information such as ?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=548e98dcb3eef82257be9bd9b068f0e099550f27-1623222312-0-Adfoq4GccNAnXUg6Sqr8XSqtALuZszwFdOyP2lh8sEVFxGzYS26R1cBrF3Yu28t7iTL1rdL- etc.

I suspect this might be the main issue that’s blocking Jetpack to connect as expected. What I suggest at this stage is the following:

    – Go to wp-admin Settings > General and make sure that the WordPress Address (URL) and the Site Address (URL) both match. They should display your site URL without the www.
    – Check the .htaccess file to make sure that there is nothing messing up with the www > non-www redirection
    – Give it another round of checks to Coudflare settings in case something is still off over there. We have some dedicated instructions to setup Cloudflare and Jetpack, here and here.

Once done these, flush your browser and site cache, and give Jetpack another refresh by deactivating and reactivating it. I hope this would fix this glicth.

I know this might look like a lot of troubleshooting to try, so we appreciate your patience and cooperation in helping us fix this problem.

Let me know how you get on!

    Still not working.

Just going to give up on the plug-in.

    Thanks for your help.

Sad to hear you’re still having issues.

I do see also that your WordPress core and Jetpack versions are out of date – It would be a good idea to make sure that all of your plugins, theme, PHP version, and core of WordPress are all updated before trying to install and activate Jetpack again (your host can help with all of that).

That being said, I still see the redirection that Stef mentioned happening, so your webhost may also be able to help figure out where all of those appended codes are coming from. This could cause more issues that just with our plugin if left unfixed.

I do wish you luck if you decide to continue using Jetpack!
