For the first time in a while, I just made updates to wordpress. I updated wordpress to the latest version and I updated User Access Manager.to the latest version.

It still works fine, but at the top of the screen it says “Please update the database of the User Access Manager.”.

When I click “Click here to proceed”

    the next screen says
“Reset User Access Manager” with a radio button yes/no and a reset button. Under that in red it says in red “Warning: The reset of the User Access Manager can not be undone. All settings and user groups will permanently lost.”

    and

Update User Access Manager database with a radio button:
    – update network wide
    – update current blog
    -No
    and a reset button
and in red it says ” Updates the database of the User Access Manager. Please backup your database before you perform the update”

What does all this mean to reset? and what do the different radio button indicate?

    Thanks

Anyone able to help with this?

I basically want to know what it means when UAM prompts me to “Please update the database of the User Access Manager.”.

    I have the same question.
    Can someone explain this

The first option is to reset all the data. The second one to update the database, which should work automatically, but a database backup is always a good idea. Could some of you provide me a screenshot of the page, I think the translations could be wrong, maybe that cause the irritation.

    same problem

Please update the database of the User Access Manager. Click here to proceed
    Reset User Access Manager
    Yes No reset
Warning: The reset of the User Access Manager can not be undone. All settings and user groups will permanently lost.
Update User Access Manager database Update network wide Update current blog No update
Updates the database of the User Access Manager. Please backup your database before you perform the update.

So just update the database and if you want 100% save back your database up before.

Is there any issue, if I dont update the database?

Yes category locking will not work. Why is that such a big deal, I don’t get it. Should I do it silent without giving the users a change to make a backup?

Alex, it just isn’t user friendly.

The first question is if we want to delete all settings and data. If we select no, the button shows “Reset”. Why would there be any option “No”? and if we click “No” why would the button be labelled as “Reset”, when we dont want to reset ?
It might make more sense to have just one red button saying “reset all data and settings”. If it is clicked it shows a popup saying “are you sure?”. Or to make sure they really want to do this, add a field and they they need to type “reset” or “delete” into the field to validate their intention.

The second question: I don’t know what is the difference between Update Network Wide and Update current blog. Also the same issue as above. Why is there an option “No” and the click “Update” ? It would make more sense to exclude “No” and also make the options labelled more clearly.

And also I’m not sure why there is a reset/ delete all data and settings, in the update database section.

@wprun Thanks for the good feedback! I will change the labels and workflow of the buttons. But to answer the last question, it isn’t the database section, it’s the Setup section. I use this section for functions you will need rarely or never.

I see. I didn’t notice the title “Setup”, as the notice “Please update the database of the User Access Manager. Click here to proceed” was more prominent.

I improved the workflow with 1.2.12. Thanks again for the valuable feedback!
