I like it. The newspapery header with the WordPress-ish calendar and Date and Weather is teriffic – every newspaper would want approximately that header, even personal blogs and launchpads would be good with that kind of functional / dynamic header instead of just a banner going all the way across.
That’s interesting however you did the fluid action in the center column. It works fine in Firefox, down to a certain point. It looks the better maximized on a 1024x screen, seems to get hairy down around 850 so I’m not sure how it works on an 800 px screen (which could be just 5% of viewers, these days).
Suggestion:
In the left nav column, change the word “Categories” to “Sections”. Those appear to be the sections of the newspaper (although, granted, also sub-sections and columns). Most folks call ’em sections in a newspaper, and Categories seems like a forced WordPress Word in that spot, to me.
