• Hi, I noticed that out of the blue, our site started loading the relatively heavy jQuery library on the front end with a big impact on pagespeed metrics and subsequent negative consequences for our SEO.

Turned out to be caused by the Newsletter block in the site footer.

Please consider restoring the old behavior without popup modal, at least as an option? Or switch to a much lighter modal, maybe like the new image wp-lightbox-overlay?

    Hi @ravanh

Jetpack 12.9 which was released yesterday, should resolve this for you.

Hi Bruce, I fear nothing has changed. The block still loads Thickbox and therefore jQuery and jQuery Migrate…

Or is there a block option or Jetpack module setting that I missed?

Hi, yes you can see the jQuery and Migrate libraries included in the source code of https://ontherhone.com/en/newsletter/ where there is a Jetpack Newsletter suscription block on the page. Other pages do not have these libraries…

We used to have the subscription block in the footer but that means including both libraries (just for the one form) on every page.

    Hi?@ravanh,

    It’s me again. ??

Hey there! I just had a chat with our team, and guess what? We’ve already tackled that issue you mentioned. Good news – the fix is all set and will be part of our next Jetpack release.

Given that, I’m going to mark this as solved and if there’s anything else, feel free to open a new support thread.

    Best!

Excellent news. Thanks for the update ??
