Please recommend a basic security plugin for a non-technical person.

    Please suggest me a basic security plugin.
    I installed wp better security which created a peculiar issue of 500 internal error at regular intervals, I tried bulletproof security which crashed the site.
    However the site has been restored and I want to know from you experts a basic plugin which should secure the site and the plugin should be a lite one.
