• Download version 1.10.9 standard from our website and then do the following
    1) perform a db backup to be on the safe side
    2) deactivate the plugin ( just deactivate it do not delete it )
    2) delete everything in /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar folder
    3) extract our zipped archive
    4) copy the content of the the archive to wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar
    5) replace /wp-content/themes-ai1ec with /wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/themes-ai1ec
    6) reactivate the plugin
This would install version 1.10.9-standard which has more features than 1.10.4 and it’s more stable.
We are developing version 2.0 which will have a unified codebase and which will stop this madness of having two free versions

it’s strange, if you have copied the themes folder manually the theme update should not get called

I had disabled the plugin and deleted it via FTP before reading this.
I just downloaded the plugin from your site, and installed it via the wordpress plugin installer.

The same problem persists and the information is still there from before. I’m not sure if following the instructions above would be helpful at this point, what do you think?

Disregard – Obviously I forgot to engage brain.

    Thank you.
I deleted All the files, including those not in the plugin file, then reinstalled the plugin from your site and it worked.

I installed this plugin via WordPress, and all was fine, but asked me to download the Standard free version from the website. Okay…
Downloaded it and updated the plugin via FTP… which crashed my site. I deleted the plugin, and reauploaded using WordPress’ installer. It crashed the site, again. Deleted it again. Gave it one more try. Used WordPress’ uploader, and I got this message when trying to activate it:

    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Ai1ec_File_Not_Found’ with message ‘Could not find a version of “user_variables” to parse.’ in /home/…/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/app/model/class-ai1ec-less-file.php:98 Stack trace: #0 /home/…/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/app/controller/class-ai1ec-lessphp-controller.php(224): Ai1ec_Less_File->locate_exact_file_to_load_in_theme_folders() #1 /home/…/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/app/controller/class-ai1ec-lessphp-controller.php(172): Ai1ec_Lessphp_Controller->get_less_variable_data_from_config_file(Object(Ai1ec_Less_File)) #2 /home/…/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/app/controller/class-ai1ec-app-controller.php(151): Ai1ec_Lessphp_Controller->initialize_less_variables_if_not_set(Object(Ai1ec_Less_File)) #3 /home/…/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/app/controller/class-ai1ec-app-controller.php(60): Ai1e in /home/…/public_html/site/wp-content/plugins/all-in-one-event-calendar/app/model/class-ai1ec-less-file.php on line 98

Tried deleting via WordPress’ plugin page, but crashed the site, yet again. Had to delete manually via FTP.
Gave it another try, and got the same message again,

I have the the latest version from the site (1.10.9), and tried uploading as told, both via FTP and WordPress. It just won’t work.
What the hell is wrong here?
