"Please provide a valid username." on LOCAL wamp server

    trying to install wordpress 3.8 on my wamp server, and after creating the wp_config and starting installation (everything LOOKS right) it simply won’t accept any username I give it.

    help? please?

    I just wanted to update that I have solved the issue, it was a rewrite rule in my htaccess that allowed you to drop .htm/.php from filenames, adding an exception for the directory wordpress was installed in fixed it.
