Please moderate a comment on a nonexistent post

  • I received an email from WordPress saying ‘a new comment on the post “atlas” is waiting your approval: (I wouldnt click on this link): https://trotterroofingatlanta.com/atlas

    The email shows the comment, its in Russian with several .ru addresses in it. When I log in to wordpress, I cant find a post or page with the /atlas extension. Virus Total also can’t find that url.

    So, I’m not sure how to find it, to delete the pending comment, or if it’s even there any more. Wordfence has sent no notifications about it. Thank you for any suggestions.

    We’re considering paying for the upgraded Wordfence service, but not sure if that would help the situation. Any feedback is appreciated.

    Hi @cgl102770,

    Is it possible that the email you received was not from WordPress? They could impersonate WordPress and obtain your credentials by redirecting you to another website.

    If you can’t find the comment and no one is complaining that their comment is not getting approved, there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

    Thank you for the reply. I just checked, and the email is from WordPress. Also, the link to the page on the site is not a spoofed link, it actually does link to the sites url. I didnt click the link, though i right clicked and did a ‘show link address.’ I still don’t quite understand how or why that page is listed in the email but I appreciate the feedback.
