Please help with discussion settings…

I just added the plug in: Mingle forum, and it seems to be doing what I need, but on the first page of my site I have a post directing people to the forum page in order to bring up the member sign up form. I don’t want it to be something that can be replied to, but more as a statement, or just script on the home page. I would rather all discussions be kept in the forum only. I cant find individual post settings anywhere..

Also, is there any way to move a users post from one category to another, without deleting it, and having them re post it??
