    Hi Sybre,

All the links of my site are not being indexed in google. In GSC, I had submitted a sitemap and for all those links it says Crawled but not Indexed – Excluded.
Since then, I added a post, product and category etc. And I didn’t resubmit the sitemap. These have been crawled, indexed and are showing on Google when I do a “site:”.

I’m not sure if the sitemap settings or my seo settings are wrong because of which Google is excluding those in the initial sitemap?

    Kindly help please.

(I’m creating a new post as I’m unable to find my old one related to this. You had suggested I wait a while and improve the site speed. It’s been a few months now and the speed is good as well)

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hey, I had a look at your website, and it doesn’t look like there is any obvious technical problem.

However, the content of your website is fairly sparse. There are only a handful of pages that contain some writing (texts).

Furthermore, the products have on your e-shop have similar descriptions, some pages only have a video or an image. Naturally, humans do not need to explain the video and the content is fine for them, but search engines need some meat to consume. My meat, I mean textual content. While it might be frustrating for you, unless you add more descriptive texts to your art pieces and pages, you might never search for any actual search queries, even if you get indexed.

I would also fill alt tags for images. Consider adding your website and sitemap to bing webmaster tools, so you can track the indexing differences in time.

Sidenote: Lately, I encountered this problem a fair bit – new websites and/or new domain taking forever to get indexed. Especially e-commerce ones. Even sites with quite a bit of products and more content than you have.

Sadly, we do not really control Google and how they prioritize indexing. You can help it by making more content and getting real visitors from social media, forums… and of course getting some natural links.

TSF covers the technical basics for your SEO, but it is not an on/off switch. You have to put some elbow grease into the website if you want to get noticed, prioritized and finally actually get shown for some search queries.

Thank you Pierre for the detailed response. I’m a new wordpress/website owner trying to build my own site and your inputs are invaluable. I understand what you’re saying about more content on the site and adding varied text/data on the pages. I’ll definitely do that as I’m adding more and more data and building the site up.

The three pages that are indexed; they were found by google on its own. Even though they are very simple pages with less content, they still got indexed. I’m not sure how though?

Also, I checked the site on ismysitepenalized.com . It says ‘penalized’.

Well, nobody really does, besides Google. Just so happens I made a new website using TSF on a new domain a week ago. It is already indexed, but same as you, not all pages. For example, “Contact” page is not indexed.

    For reference:

But we also received reports here on TSF forums:

We will look into the other reports and if I find out anything specific, I will let you know.
