• Hello,

Please take a look at eclipsemagazine.com somehow my site has been hacked. All of the Post Links are being redirected to some weird anti-virus scanner. I looked at the code, changed the .htaccess file so that it’s not active, looked at the theme and the permalinks and can’t figure out why or how this is being done.

  • I just noticed that several forums are talking about this very same issue. It is not WP specific. Seems someone has found a way to mod htaccess.

Here’s what my hostprovider said. “The issue started because Parallels did not release an update to their DNS system, so our nameservers were succeptable to the DNS poisoning issue.” My hostprovider changed their nameservers and installed a patch.

Right… I read somewhere on the internet that 4 out of 5 DNS servers are easy to hack. So far for “hardening wordpress”.

I use Ultravpn to access different sites and its totally safe.

It can even use to download torrents without getting caught.

The best thing about this service …its absolutely free with no bandwidth limitation.

try it and post back any feedback https://www.ultravpn.fr

Looks to me that the hosting compamys server has been comprimised by a trojan or something so hackers were able to perform a DNS hijacking and therefore defacing your site.

I know you contacted the hsoting company but I would advise you call them up and question them again.

Some time back I faced this similar problem on one of my sites. What I did was, went into phpmyadmin, searched for the redirecting url and replaced it with the default value. This could be more easier if you take your database backups on regular basis then you can easily restore your complete backups. Most of these virus affects the database only and not the source code files. Do not forget to change your ftp and database password after this. Good luck!

Most of these virus affects the database only and not the source code files.

My experience has been just the opposite. Most of the WP hacks (and a few other php apps) I’ve seen have been malicious code written to the source code files…particularly the config file.

My experience has been just the opposite.

as has mine – index files and wp-config.php
seems most accts. are accessed via ftp
