• At one point we contracted a writer to write some content for our website. We created a WordPress user for them to enter the copy directly into the site. Yesterday someone noticed that this person still had an account and password so they deleted the user and apparently also deleted all the pages on the site that that user created. Ooops.

Is there a way to fix this? I’m hoping that maybe the content isn’t deleted but just inactive in the database and can just be assigned to a new author. Is there anyway to get the deleted content back?

  • It all depends on when someone deleted the author did select who transfer article to.
You could check the database if they are still there if not then they are deleted for good unless you have backup where you can restore them from

I’m guessing they didn’t do that since all the posts are gone from the front end of the site now. When I look at the database through PHPmyadmin it’s hard to know what I’m looking at. There are tons more posts than are actually on the site, I’m guessing because it saves revisions, etc. However, there do appear to be the pages that are missing from the site with a post status of ‘trash’ so I’m hoping at the very least we can revert to a previous version of the page and not start over from scratch..
