• Hey everyone,

I created my wordpress site this time last year. I recently updated it 2 weeks ago. Everything was working fine up until this morning.

whenever I try to log into my wordpress site, or visit it, I keep getting this error message:

Fatal error: Can’t use function return value in write context in /home3/jamguin/public_html/wp-content/themes/voltata/inc/template-tags.php on line 174

is there anyway someone can help me out with this? I have a lot of important information on my site that I need for an upcoming project and I’m freaking out :((((

  • this is exactly what happened to me today and it’s the voltata theme that started it. I was able to log in to our database through godaddy and change the theme that way but I pretty much had to go it alone because everyone was all “oh… that’s beyond my scope”.

Do you know how to find your database?

FWIW, the theme could also be disabled by renaming its folder via FTP (or a File Manager provided by the host); if the currently active theme’s folder can’t be found, WordPress will switch to the default theme instead.

Scadmin1 -Can I find the database through cpanel?

    Girlieworks- thanks for the info.

@amin1990: I found the cPanel File Manager documentation that explains how to rename a folder, if that helps at all.

Or perhaps you could ask your host to rename it for you?

I found it through manage wordpress through our host. sql something something. :S I’m sorry I’m not helpful but I can at least tell you it’s recoverable. ??
