• Myself and a friend have been trying in vain for several hours now to redirect a static URL like this:

    https://www.domain.com/money-saving-tips/index.shtml

    To this:

    https://www.domain.com/money-saving-tips

(Where “money-saving-tips” is both a directory in the main root, AND the name/permalink of a WordPress page)

Everything we’ve tried via .htaccess has resulted in a 404 error (despite the page existing and being accessible by the page ID) or a redirect loop (which the disable canonical redirect loop plugin has not fixed).

We’ve exhausted ourselves and Google, so I’m turning here for help. If anyone has any suggestions or advice, we are listening! Thank you in advance.
