That’s correct otherwise it would be possible for spammers checking certain email addresses. The SMTP check is just another way to limit false sign ups.
So how does it work? It will pretend to accept the false email but in fact won’t save it?
edit: I just tested it again. The nonexistend email adress will go right into the subsribers list and result into a hard bounce for the doi mail. –> So this function is not working.
