I have been waiting for the “promised” Repeated Fields to be added to PODS for quite some time. On several releases, PODS has bumped this important feature until the “next” release. Please don’t bump this again!

For those of you who don’t know what Repeated Fields are:

Repeated Fields allow you to create a particular field type and the client can add multiple entries to that field. For example, if you are created an customer contact POD, we need the ability to create a phone number structure such as: Home, Work, Work2, Cell, etc
The same would apply to email addresses: Personal, Work, Family, etc.

As of now, I am having to hack this functionality. Which should be so unnecessary.

I wouldn’t dream of it, we’re so ready to get repeatable fields into Pods, it just had to be implemented in such a way that it worked across our use cases that we cover. There was a lot of holdup in design and frontend, but the only thing holding it back from being released in the next feature release is some JavaScript refactoring, which isn’t going to be bad at all. You’ve got my promise, loop fields are coming!

Thanks Scott, my fingers are crossed. ??

You’ll notice Pods 2.4 just went out. We didn’t bump repeated fields, that’s still planned for Pods 3.0, we just ended up having a few enhancements to go out along with some bug fixes for this release, so it ended up becoming “2.4”. Haven’t forgotten about this feature, we’re now ready to get it done and ready for release!

Thanks for the update Scott. PODs is becoming more deeply integrated into my WordPress builds. It will be a breath of fresh air to add repeated fields into my arsenal.

    Anticipating 3.0

Right now we use ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) for this reason. Pods is interesting, but it’s got to catchup. Rarely do we have a situation where we don’t need repeating fields.

Is there a date when 3.0 will be out? Needing repeater fields as well.

Appreciate that it needs to go through rigorous QA, just wondered if there was a date in mind.

    Thanks.

Having a core development meeting on Monday at 1pm CDT to discuss, will post back here when we have a date nailed down.

That’s brilliant thanks Scott. I work in a tech company so I appreciate that any bugs need to be ironed out – and that’s in the best interests of everyone. It just gives me an understanding of the timeline we’re working to. thanks again.

I’ve been away for a few weeks but I am anxiously anticipating the release of repeated fields. I’m tired of work arounds for such a great framework. We’re counting on you PODS!

Looks like we’re targeting December 2014, which could mean December 31st, but could also mean December 15th, depends on some things we’re working on this week.

Sounds good Scott, really looking forward to this feature! ??

Are repeatable fields still on track? I see Pods 2.5 is in beta but haven’t seen anything about repeatable fields being in that version.

Repeatable fields are in Pods 3.0, we’re in testing on that right now and finishing out the admin UI to manage them. Pods 2.5 came out of work done by other contributors while I’ve been focused on Pods 3.0. So it was a win-win, loop fields are landing and it continues to be my top priority.

My whole family has been sick with stomach bugs, cold, bronchitis, asthma complications for my oldest, just a great big fun December. I’ll continue working this week and into January on preparing Pods 3.0 for a beta that can be used and tested.

All the best to you Scott from another “under the weather” developer. (okay, where’s my medicine)
