There is nothing I like more than to hear from random users and contributors that they are getting a pop up at the top that’s asking if they’re enjoying All in One SEO, then wanting to know what it is referring to since they don’t have access to editing or viewing any of that data.

@jh20001 The notice should only be displayed to users who have the capability to publish posts. This was implemented in v4.0.13.

Please can you verify that you’re running version 4.0.13 or higher and that the notice is displaying only to users with the publish posts capability.

You may also want to disable any caching whilst you’r checking because we’ve seen some aggressive caching that caches that notice when it shouldn’t be cached.

Currently Version 4.0.15 (all plugins are kept current at all times)

We wound up adding yet another plugin specifically for the purposes of hiding *all* notifications to users other than admins/authors. Contributors have very little access to publishing on that site since many of them are 3rd party individuals we don’t know personally. They can publish basic posts but most of the plugins beneath the editing box are usually hidden from view as they don’t need to know everything we have going on, on the backend.

We’ve never had a problem thankfully, but the group I am a part of (running the site) is incredibly paranoid about privacy and security and considers any information popping up like that as a leak of information for everything that is being hidden from those users.

Not to mention the plugins that ask for donations and reviews when these contributors are simply guests. We the administrators are the ones “choosing” to use plugins and are the ones donating where we feel the plugins perform the best (as those plugins do deserve the respect of helping out in such a way). However, these 3rd party contributors shouldn’t be involved in these actions and it results in their reaching out to us asking why they are being asked for donations. Awkward conversations that shouldn’t exist, when we have to explain that it isn’t us doing this and that it’s a 3rd party plugin, which usually results in them wondering or asking why we don’t have control over our own site when it comes to things like this.

@jh20001 I’m glad you were able to find a solution. I’ve opened an issue with our dev team to look at adding a filter hook that can be used to disable notices by role.

I’ll update this forum thread when this filter is added to the plugin.
