    Hi,

    This plugin essentially doubles the disk space required for hosting images. An option to remove the original unsmushed image after you verify that everything worked would be very helpful.

    Other than that, this is the best add-on out there and I will rate it once this last issue is resolved so I can give it a perfect rating.

    Hi Bwbama,

    This option can’t be implemented :
    – if we do not preserve the original picture, if you change the quality ratio, it would optimize the picture from an already optimized picture, which would bring poor quality to pictures.
    – What’s more, if you optimize your pictures at a pretty low quality (eg. 30), you can’t rollback your pictures to a higher quality.

    Hence, this feature is compulsory to avoid to loose data!

    Hope this helped;
    Best regards-
    Charles

    That should be up to us to decide. I have my settings set where I want them and I have no need to change them or go back to the original image. So why should I be wasting disk space keeping those images around?

    I am using re.Smush not only to have a quicker website but to save some hosting space. I have problems with my site backup because of total size of all the images.

    My inital idea was now to simply delete all unsmushed images. However, that does not seem to work either as I have learnt that the images would be optimized again.

    I have all images stored in an image library so there is no way I could delete the data.

    Any ideas? Cheers!

    I still think this should be an option or we should have the option to at least move the unoptimized images outside of the current directory.

    I totally agree with you, @bwbama . I’m actually considering moving back to Smush WP because of the lack of this option. I have no need for the original images, and I’ve got almost 40,000 in my library, I could save a lot of space if I had a feature like that available.

    ReSmush.it topped my disk space. I need to delete the original images after I optimize them, it’s ridiculous that this plugin won’t let me do it.
    I got rid of Resmush.it and installed Robin Image Optimizer because they give us the option to delete the original images.
