Please advise on which plugin I should use

  • Hello, I have tried a couple image gallery plugins, but none have been able to do what I need. I would like to have a page full of thumbnails, and on each thumbnail is a picture of a job with the job name. I want the thumbnails to be clickable and after you click on it you will be taken to a page with all the rest of the pictures from that jobsite. An example of what I want to do is on https://www.idealcontracting.com/projects/

    My website is https://www.mbmfabricators.com You will see on my site under projects all I have been able to do is put a bunch of thumbnails (not clickable) on a page.

    If anyone could suggest a plugin that will get me the results like on https://www.idealcontracting.com on their projects page I would be grateful, Karen

    I would give NextGEN Gallery as your plugin. There is the ability to have a gallery, give each image a caption and have them link to a page of your choice. It’s a very nice plugin and very popular.

    @jacklyn.jade – have you used that plugin lately? They’ve had major problems the past few months – I’d suggest looking at the support forum and reviews before installing it.

    There are quite a few gallery plugins – try searching the plugins page and looking at reviews/support forums.

    Thanks for responding jacklyn.jade & WPyogi, I have the NextGEN installed right now and will start playing with it. I was a bit leary because of problems WPyogi pointed out. When I put a title of the job on the picture, and then have that link to the rest of the jobsite pictures, do I put those in a folder or on their own page? I also have Lightbox plugin because on one of the yhreads someone said NextGEN and Lightbox work well together, anyone else hear of this?

    Let me reword that question ~ If a thumbnail pic links to a page with the rest of the pictures from that job site, do I have to assign a page & page title to that page? I would rather not! I say that assuming that the pages will then show up on the menu, but maybe not. MUST GET MORE COFFEE!!!

    YES, WPyogi, I definitely need support. I have been working with NextGEN all day, finally start getting the hang of it, now it wont let me upload pics, I am getting an error message. OH WELL!!!!! I’m going to go crawl into bed and try figuring THAT out. Thanks for the link, that will be the first place I start at.
