Please add honeypot field to comment form

  • I’m surprised there’s isn’t a honeypot field that can be added to the comment form. Many form plugins have that as an option for minimizing spam from bots. Are there any plans to add that feature? Thanks.

    I am evaluating the free version of wpDiscuz. I’d like to add a honeypot field to the comment form. When editing the default comment form, I did not see that option in the field list. Is there a setting somewhere else that I’m missing?

    Thanks for the link. I’ve implemented many of those items already but will revisit the others.

    However, I prefer NOT using reCaptcha if I don’t have to. Instead, I like using a Honeypot in conjunction with Akismet, at least initially. I can always add reCaptcha later if need be.

    I’m using the “WP Armour – Honeypot Anti Spam” which adds a honeypot to the default WordPress comment form. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support the wpDiscuz comment form. I’ve reached out to the WP Armour developers and asked them to consider adding support for wpDiscuz. Having said that, it seems more sensible to me for wpDiscuz to include the honeypot functionality in its form.
