zander919, you may have found a bug.

In our test environment, we use the default WordPress themes, we go as far as only having PowerPress plugin enabled to confirm a PowerPress specific bug. Usually though the problem is because the theme is not using the_excerpt or the_content filters in the appropriate templates.

To confirm, please switch your site to one of the stock themes that comes with WordPress (twentyfourteen or twentyfifteen) If you can demonstrate with a default theme there is a problem, we’ll schedule a gotomeeting session with you to debug your website to help us determine where the problem is in PowerPress.

    Hi folks,

    Here is my issue…

I can see the mp3 audio player on desktop, however, the mp3 player is not visible on mobile.

What can I check or uncheck to fix this?

dj carl – in the future, if you have an issue that’s separate from the one in an existing thread, please start a new thread.

What type of device are you having this display issue with? By default, PowerPress uses HTML5 which makes it compatible with most mobile devices. Also, can you give us a link to your website so we can take a look?

    Will do – Sorry ;(

    I’m using iPhone 4S for testing…

I would first double check that in PowerPress Settings > Appearance tab the option to include the player in excerpts is checked. It is not checked by default.

    Yes sir ??

    I checked:
Display media / links in: WordPress Excerpts (e.g. search results)

I’m using WPTouch plugin too ??

djcarl – I looked at your link in Mobile Safari on my iPad Mini Retina and the first media player that appears when you look at the page in a desktop browser, the one located under “How many awards…” isn’t displaying on my iPad. What are you using to generate that player? If it’s PowerPress, are you using a shortcode?

I also see another media player at the bottom of the page. That one does show up on my iPad.

    Shawn,

There should be media/mp3 there on your iPad. I have this one line of code on the line:

    [audio src="https://djcarl.com/audio/voiceover-music-a-tribe-called-quest-award-tour.mp3" /]

It displays on desktop, but not on mobile devices like iPad or iPhone.

The bottom player does show up on desktop and mobile. Is this not a PowerPress issue?

djcarl – The player that you’re seeing on desktop browsers under ‘How many awards…” is either being automatically generated by WordPress itself or some other media player plugin. PowerPress is only displayed by either using a PowerPress shortcode or just by having PowerPress displayed at the top or bottom of a WordPress post, depending on how you’ve got it set up in preferences. My guess is that, whatever player that is that’s appearing under “How many awards…” is a Flash player, not an HTML5 player, and that’s why it won’t appear on mobile devices. Regardless, that player isn’t being created by PowerPress.

Thank you and sorry about that!

WPTouch replaces the player for mobile devices. That woudl be the source of your problem.

Not sure you’re aware or not, but most WordPress themes are now mobile friendly or sometimes called “responsive”, meaning they respond to the screen being used. If your theme is responsive, there should be on need for the WPTouch plugin. If it is not responsive, I would highly encourage you to consider switching to a responsive theme as they are optimal for SEO according to Google.

Try disabling the WPTouch plugin, then go to https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/ and see if your theme as-is is mobile friendly already.

Hi Angelo, I tried TwentyFifteen but the result is the same. You can go to Jamiedew.com to see it in the new theme. Also, I don’t know if this sheds light on it or not, but even the add media option, not through powerpress/blubrry, doesn’t work. This may indicate (although this is definitely your field of expertise and not mine) that something other than powerpress and its interaction with WP/Argent theme is the problem. Thank you

zander919, just to triple confirm: You have no other plugins enabled and you tried the twentyfifteen theme and the player did not appear?

Can you test using the audio shortcode, e.g, [audio src="https://example.com/path/to/file.mp3"]

Do you have a mu-plugins folder?

Go to PowerPress > Tools, in the tools page, select “Diagnostics” It will list all of the active plugins, including those that are in the mu-plugins folder. It may be a plugin that is in there that you cannot disable.

Hi Angelo, i don’t have mu-plugins folder i don’t believe. The only thing it says is an issue in “Diagnostics” is ” Your Php is running in CGI mode.”

Other than that, I can see two issues, one with each theme. First, no matter what, Argent will not post a powerpress player. Not on blog, or home. Not with all plugins, or none. I have yet to succeed in embedding a player even after everything has been stripped down with no other programs or modifications.

Which brings me to the second issue… I actually was able to get the player uploaded in TwentyFifteen but wasn’t able to see it at first because of a shortcode i was using that shows the blog posts on my home page which remains “static” in the customizer.

So I need to find out why Argent isn’t allowing either their built-in “add media” option nor the powerpress option. Additionally, if that shortcode which is enabled by a plugin (Post in Pages) will not work with powerpress, then I will have to find some other way of showing my blog posts on the home/front page.

So all in all, it looks like the main problem is the Argent theme, since I cannot upload audio in anyway to any pages.

    Thank you

Okay keep us up to date what you find out with the Argent theme.
