Play sound on new post

This can be done, it’s not too hard…Nice idea, reminds me of the good ol’days when incoming emails prompted sound notifications (although outlook still has it).

Here’s where I would start:
An easy way to play sounds is with this script: https://www.happyworm.com/jquery/jplayer/

you’ll obviously want a sound file like ding.mp3:)

Then fire the play function when a post/comment gets made by editing p2.js in your p2 theme.

You’ll need to know how to add the scripts and a little javascript to get it working.

Just out of curiosity, who exactly will be hearing this “ding” when you create a new post?

This is being used as a members site and has several of updates during the day. So the users of the site would hear the “ding”.
@nobble – That sounds like a great idea, but I’m not a programmer. Is this something that you know how to do?

would be fun to implement but I don’t have spare time to allocate at the moment. Are you serious about the feature? Would do it for pay…or you could try rentacoder or scriptlance or something similar. Maybe someone else has the time to implement?

I can pay. I have someone looking into it for me.. but no luck so far. It doesn’t sound like anything complicated and it would be a nice feature to have built into the P2 theme. Perhaps in the next update?
