Are there any plans to add functionality to verify email addresses in contact forms? I’ve had to remove my contact form due to hatemail from people using bogus addresses that aren’t even temporary ones. They have the proper form of email addresses but are made up on the spot. There are other plugins I’ve heard of, but they don’t seem to be compatible with Jetpack.

Yes, this is a .org blog, but Jetpack is the same as far as I know.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

I would suggest that your activate the Akismet plugin on your site; it’s free for personal blogs, and once activated all Feedback emails will be checked by Akismet before to be sent to you. That should help you filter out the spammers.

Let me know if it helps.

Thanks Jeremy. However, I’d prefer if it would not even accept the form unless the email was valid. As far as I know, Akismet looks for typical spam markers, such as multiple links or known spam servers. These emails had none of the usual markers, just invalid email addresses.

I see. I’m afraid you won’t be able to do that with Jetpack, as it doesn’t include any tools to check if an email address is valid.
Akismet will provide a first protection against spammers, but I don’t know of any way to check for valid email addresses as you mentioned.
