Using wp-forms; entering plain text into form is being sent as HTML. Is there a setting for sending in plain text only?

Well, I switched to Contact Form 7 and WP PGP plugin is working perfectly. I have no idea why wp-forms does not work correctly.

Update: wp-forms will work with “WP PGP Encrypted Emails” if you set wp-forms to send in plain text only.

Have you been able to use this plugin and have the files that get uploaded via a contact form get encrypted too?

@icoso Well, I never used file uploads with any of my forms, but your questions is a good one. So I edited one of my Contact-7 forms to use file upload to see if the file attachment was encrypted. The form sends emails to my Protonmail account, and the attachment seems to have been encrypted. Protonmail displays a green padlock if the email is encrypted, if it’s not, the padlock is gray and opened.

In other words, the email that Protonmail receives is either fully encrypted or not. With all this said, I have yet to test by sending to another account that does not support encryption to see if anything can be read.

I will try that soon and give an update here.

OK, did some testing. Attachments are not encrypted!

@icoso So I guess Protonmail displays the green padlock only for the text body.

So email attachments can be sent in two ways; as an attachment or embedded within the body of the text area. Since the encryption plugin only encrypts the text body area, attachments are not encrypted. I suspect in order to encrypt attachments via a WordPress form, the form plugin must “embed” attachments. I tested with Contact-7 and it does not embed them.

If you are a coder perhaps you can change the behavior of a form plugin to accomplish this.

    Hope this helps.
