Plain hyperlinks appear as boxes with descriptions on pages and posts

  • Hi, does anyone know why the plaintext hyperlinks on all of the pages and posts on my website appear as boxes with descriptions?

    I have had this problem for a while and I am not sure if it has to do with the WordPress theme or some other conflict.

    Here is a link to one of the pages as an example. If you scroll down you can see what I’m talking about. In the box description it has a bunch of scrambled CSS code that is on the linked site.

    Is there anyway to prevent this auto-box hyperlink from appearing and just show the plaintext link (or just a simple hyperlink) without having to edit the page/post directly?

    Please try deactivating all the plugins, reload the page and check if the issue repeats. If it doesn’t repeat, then, try turning on the plugins one by one, reload the page and check for the existence of the issue. Repeat this process for each plugin until you find the plugin that causes it. Once you identified the plugin, please create a support ticket in that plugin’s support forum.

    If deactivating all the plugins didn’t fix the issue, please edit the post, then in the editor screen, use the “Text” mode (the other mode is “Visual”), find the line where the link is inserted and please share here how it is inserted. For example, it’d look something like…

    <a href="https://example.com/>Example Site</a>

    Background: The particular link is loaded in iframe using embeds (a built-in feature in WordPress core). Embeds are turned on only for popular sites, such as youtube. For some reason, it is turned on for that particular link.

    Hi. Thanks for the response. I tried deactivating all plugins, refreshed the page and there is still the box issue.

    Any other ideas?

    Maybe there is a plug-in that would help.

    By the way, I also tried editing in text mode and that didn’t change anything either.

    Sorry, I don’t have any other ideas. Probably, someone else will chip in.
