Placing comments form in sidebar

Hi,

I’d like to place my comments form in the sidebar.

As you can see, there is a lead capture form in the sidebar, only it is not hooked up for WP. I would like to replace it with a WP comments form. Only problem is that for some reason I can’t seem to call the comment template in that position.

What are likely reasons I can’t call the comment form in that position?

Also, anyone know any themes that already have the comments form off to the left?

If this won’t work on the index.php can I at least make it work on individual posts and/or pages?

As you can see, I’m using WP as a CMS rather than typical blog.
