placing code in post format files

hallo to every one. I would like to now, is it wise to add code to post format files in twenty eleven (I have created a child theme, so all changes are done within the child theme). There is social icons and post views that must be inserted after each and every post and I need to put into content-page.php. I’ve already inserted my code, and it works fine, but I like to know, is that the correct way of doing it. Another thing is, in content-aside.php and content-gallery.php, I would to delete some code to fit my needs. Do I remove it from the files, or are there other ways of doing it. Thanks
