• Hi all,

Placester is pretty cool and has lots of potential. Most of the site works great, but two things do not

First i’m using the Real Estate Pro plugin with the Allure placester theme downloaded yesterday.

    a) The search from the main page shows up, but cannot choose any options or drop downs

    b) Clicking a listing (which links to websitename/APIkey) goes to a ‘page not found’ error

Curious, can’t find any references to correct any of this, and looking for a solution to fully evaluate Placester.

Thank you for any tips and tricks.

Sorry, B) should read, links to listings from the main page are websitename/APikeyID and link to ‘not found’

    Hey Headtailgrep,

Thanks for checking out out the plugin / theme. We agree that it has a lot of potential and are hard at work improving it. That being said here’s some specific fixes:

    a) This is a known issue that we’ve fixed and we’re working to get that version of Allure on www.remarpro.com. However, as you might know the update approval process takes a few days, which unfortunately doesn’t really help you right now! So, here’s a direct link to the most up-to-date version of Allure https://github.com/Placester/wordpress-real-estate-theme-ventura/zipball/master

    b) Could you provide a bit more detail? Where are you clicking the listing? Search Page, Home Page? Is it in the featured listings box?

Let us know. We’re happy to help.

    – Matt

    To answer questions:

    a) The new version of allure resolved the search issue (on first pass, but I will do a detailed test)

    b) I have some ‘featured’ listings at the bottom of the main page, these are the links that point to websitename/APIkeyID and go to ‘not found’ page. Still the same in new allure version.

Hi! Apologies if this is not a good place for the question, but I’m stumped after searching solutions all day.

I have this installed, I can post new listings. But I can’t get it to upload images.

In Chrome I get the “Loading” icon and a moving graphic that just never goes away after selecting the file. In IE no graph, loadining icon, nothing. This is the latest version, with the “Columbus” theme installed.

I can upload images, like logos and things to the media section so it does not *seem* to be a permissions issue or ownership issue. Only odd thing about the install is that I installed WP in a folder off the main URL (/demosite1). The WP stuff works fine, but trying to “edit” or “view” a listing using the Placester admin drops the “/demosite1/” bit off the URL and breaks the link.

Any ideas why I can’t load images?

As a P.S. I can upload photos using the Placester admin site. Just not through the Placester tab in my WP admin. So at least I have a wrok around for now. I’ve looked at a lot of solutions for RE/Vacation Rentals to tide me over until I can write something for this little venture, and of all I’ve seen this is the best free option available by far.

    Hi Xanadu,

Thanks for checking out our plugin and theme! We’re glad you found a workaround. We will be fixing the image upload issue with one of our next updates. Until then, continue to use the Placester application to manage your listing images.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Henry

I have a site that I am currently helping a friend with and there is an issue with the listing on the home page. The current theme we are using is the columbus theme. When you put in the search parameters it goes to a “page not available” blank page and nothing comes up on the search. It appears that this has been an issue on the allure theme and I’m wondering if there is a fix for this on the columbus theme.

I am not sure from the information that you provided if this is the problem you are describing. But I have had issues that i traced back to the permalinks not functioning properly. Something I have found helps, is to DELETE the .htaccess file in the root directory, then change and save the premalinks. Seems to help because the links break for some reason otherwise if you change the format.

    Hi Graphicmonster & XanaduRanch,

It does sound like this has to do with permalinks though we’d need to know more to help diagnose the problem. What do you currently have the permalinks set to, and have you tried changing these settings? This may help resolve the 404 errors you are experiencing.

It’d help us greatly if you could pass along more information and we’ll do our best to sort the issue out. Feel free to contact us directly, either at our support email – support(at)placester.com or through our 800 number.

    Thanks,

    Henry

I was able to get the listing links working (I was getting a 404 as well) by setting my permalinks to the default setting .. Since this is not SEO friendly I would suggest that you look at changing this in future versions! Otherwise – I am very hopeful that this will help my agent-mother to manage her website quite easily!

what is the easiest way to change the permalinks on the placester platform. do I need to login and go to my root folder and change it in there? If so which file do I need to change?
