• Hi,

I want to add a placeholder to the form field (email adress example). How can I do that? For accessibility reasons I don’t want to use the label as the placeholder.

    Thanks,
    Manja

    Hello there @tippl ,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

You can do this by setting the Label to your desired placeholder text and then toggle the “display label within input” setting:

This will place the label as the “placeholder”

    Cheers!

    Hello again @tippl ,

If you don’t want to use the Label as the placeholder you’ll need to use a custom solution for this and this is out of our scope of support.

Your solution isn’t accessible, right? When I place the label as a placeholder, nobody can see the label while writing in the input field.

I use the same Label as a placeholder on my test site and i’m able to see the placeholder example before I start typing. See screenshot below:

Can you share a screenshot of what you’re seeing so we can understand better?

Do you expect people to still see the placeholder when typing?

Yes, you can see it before writing. But after starting with the first letter, there is no label to see the field purpose anymore.

    Hi there @tippl,

Thanks for reaching back out. Yes, this is how our form fields are designed to work, this is standard form field behaviour in the industry.

It sounds as though you would like to keep the external label and also have it appear as default text, is that correct? If so, the option to do this would be a new feature request for MailPoet.

You can use our feature request board to create a post (or search for an existing post to upvote):
