• Hello,

When activating WP-Piwik, it turns some WP’s URLs to HTTPS.

    <link rel="pingback" href="https://www.example.com

    <meta property="og:url" content="https://www.example.com

    <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.example.com

    How to avoid that?

Are you sure this is caused by WP-Piwik? It does not replace or change any URLs.

To avoid this is caused by the tracking code some way, can you check if this also happens if you disable the tracking code?

The fact is that when I uninstall wp-piwik the URL stop trying to use HTTPS.

And what’s about my second question?

When trakcing code is disabled https is still called…

Can you also try to keep WP-Piwik activated but not connected to Piwik, please? E.g., by just running the reset functionality, see settings -> support tab, without deactivating or re-configuring WP-Piwik afterwards.

I try to understand where and why WP-Piwik may change the protocol of meta links… to be honest, currently I have no idea how this can happen and this is the first time I hear about such an issue.

Btw. are you talking about the website named in your nickname? Because this site is redirecting to HTTPS and so all the meta links are https, too. Or does the issue occur on a different site?

    Hello Braekling,

Thanks for you reply. Sorry to bother you.

    It’s not about my website.

I tried what you asked and it stops using HTTPS but I’ve to connect with a fresh browser. Maybe a question of cache.

Then, when I reconnect WP-Piwik to Piwik HTTPS is back…

Hm, sorry, I still have no idea how this can happen. ??

If I open your mentioned site (even using a fresh browser) I’m redirected to https, too. No chance to visit the page using http. Does this redirect also only appear if WP-Piwik is activated?

Did you add the tracking code manually (without using WP-Piwik)? Does not look like the default tracking code.

Is it possible that there is another plugin you can deactivate instead of WP-Piwik to stop the behavior? Maybe an interaction between WP-Piwik and a second plugin causes the issue. If so and I know about the second plugin, I’ll have a chance to debug what’s happening.
