Piwik does anybody have any experience with using this?

  • Good morning. I am looking at an alternative for Google Analytics and came across Piwik. Does anybody haves any (good/bad) experiences with it?

    I am thinking of installing it on my host.

  • I’ve had mostly good experiences with it. They do have occasional issues where updates introduces bugs, but generally it works ok. The stats seem to be accurate when compared to server logs. Anything in particular you’re interested in?

    No just wondering, I am a big fan of open source software anyway, and not a big fan of GA and other ‘big brother’ type organisation.

    I also saw that they have solved the referral spam issue something I am strangling with getting GA to ignore.

    How is the extra load on your server?

    I have 5 sites on one Piwik install and I haven’t noticed any performance issues. They’re not very busy sites though, and I run them on another server. When I initially started using it, I was running both Piwik and GA so I could compare the stats, and not lose anything if I decided to ditch Piwik. So far so good with Piwik.
