Pirate Ship Integration Fails – No REST API entries

  • We recently promoted our wooCommerce update from staging to our production site, and when attempting to establish a link from PirateShip to our site, the integration fails.

    They provide a test link that is supposed to show the returned data (https://www.everydaystitches.com/wp-json/wc/v1), but it shows “[an error occurred while processing this directive]”

    When I look at the REST API section of another one of our sites, I see Pirate Ship API entries in the Rest API section of the WooCommerce | Settings | Advanced tab, so the everydaystitches site does not appear to allow the creation of the equivalent API.

    I’ve seen some references to turning on pretty permalinks, but unsure if that is related. Currently everydaystitches uses plain permalinks.

    Any help / guidance would be greatly appreciated. The PirateShip support is generally pretty good, but they said talk to the website developer, and when I look in the mirror I got nuthin.

    Hi there,

    The PirateShip support are in the best position to troubleshoot the API connection here. With that said, it’s worthwhile noting the following:

    • Permalinks should be set to default – Pretty Permalinks is not supported in the WooCommerce REST API
    • The API link you shared – https://www.everydaystitches.com/wp-json/wc/v1 – points to a very old, outdated version of the WooCommerce REST API (i.e. version 1). Is there any reason for Pirateship not using version 3?
    • ‘[an error occurred while processing this directive]’ – This error might be a result of API access being blocked at a server level: Have you reached out to your hosting provider to confirm the REST API is accessible?

    Quick update.

    Talked with Bluehost. Not sure I had the right resource, but they don’t believe they are blocking the REST API. That is probably true, since the other site I mentioned in my original post is on the same server and that one works and has always worked.

    Is there anything to look at in WooCommerce as far as configuration for this API?

    Next stop is PirateShip.
