    Hi guys,

I recently joined Pinterest and am having some issues with the Rich-Pin feature. As this is the plugin generating my recipe-Rich-Pins I’m hoping you can help out.

The issue is actually quite simple: Adding pins from my blog doesn’t grab any rich pins. When checking the code, however, everything seems to be there. When using the structured data tool from Google it’s also showing the recipe and its data.

I noticed that even your live-demo page (https://demo.wprecipemaker.com/amazing-vegetable-pizza/) isn’t working with rich pins.

When testing a completely different page that’s using the EasyRecipePlugin however, rich pins always show up in Pinterest (https://vanillacrunnch.com/best-ever-vegan-apple-hazelnut-cake/).

How can I get rich pins to show up?

Thanks for your support, let me know if you need anything else ??

Do you happen to be using Yoast SEO?

If so, I’m afraid this is a problem on Pinterest’s end. They aren’t recognizing the new schema graph that Yoast introduced correctly and there is nothing we can do about that on our end as the metadata is correct.

The only thing I can recommend is contacting their support and urging them to fix this problem. Or not using the Yoast graph integration (there’s a setting on the WP Recipe Maker > Settings > Recipe Metadata page), but that’s a good thing for SEO so Pinterest should catch up, really.

Thanks for the quick reply Brecht! Not using Yoast SEO though. I am working with Delucks SEO.

Oh in that case rich pins should work fine. On our demo site we use Yoast SEO, which is why it’s not working there.

But when I test a recipe on your website in Pinterest’s validator it does actually recognize the rich recipe pin:

Looks like you just have to apply?

yeah, it tells me that it’s available and when I apply I get the e-mail tell me all is good. But then I still don’t get rich pins ˉ\_(ツ)_/ˉ

Well their own tool proves that Pinterest can read the recipe metadata correctly. I would have to recommend contacting their support, I’m afraid.

did that already – they are NOT cooperative – will try again though ??

    thanks for the support!

Just a quick update from my end:

Turns out, the Pinterest crawler is not exactly the smartest one in the room. The affected page has the schema data from this plugin, as well as some generic OG data that come with the template as well as Delucks SEO (stuff like page name, page description, etc.).

While the Rich Pin validator actually was able to grab the appropriate metadata, the actual crawler just stupidly goes through the page and grabs whatever it can get – which was, in my case, not the recipe metadata.

So I got in contact with Delucks and the theme provider, asking them to provide me with asolution to get rid of the OG tags.

Rich pins now work as expected, no thanks to Pinterest.
