Hello all, tia for reading this and helping ??

Here’s my site (pls refer to it in shortened URL) https://bit.ly/NPJwC

I want to pinpoint what’s making my site so seemingly slow.

I have an 83 yslow ranking but on other tools, seems slower in comparison to competitors and just in general.

I’ve even gzipped my site and it says it went down from 36 ish kb to 7..yet still so slow.

The only thing I haven’t done is supercaching due to extreme confusion on what kind of settings i should use.

    HELP!

You should look into caching, but at this point, you need to start looking at your server directly.

Ipstenu, thanks I’m calling them now and hoping they can see any issues..

If it’s not that, then I don’t know at all :/ Could some themes be slow?

Without looking into your server, and understanding WHAT is slow, we can only guess.

You can switch to the twenty ten theme, see if that helps, but is more likely a combo of that, traffic and server optimization.

Thanks. Do you think my site is slow?

Damn slow, more than five seconds to load a new page.

Look into caching (wp-supercache for instance), or perhaps, if you’re doing it as a professional such money would be a “logical” investment, purchase another hosting account at another company in order to establish comparisons. Hostgator’s mutualized plans is damn cheap, can be subscribed for just one month, and I know (a few of my blogs are in there) that a wordpress installed at them is lightning fast.

very great recs sabiou, thanks for the suggestions.

I tried supercache before and didn’t see a great difference so I uninstalled it. I think I may not have enabled all the options correctly. Do you know / have a link to the best tutorials for all those options for that plugin?

I called my host (Network Solutions) – woman told me it loaded in 3 seconds on IE. So that was weird…

    Hi Clayton,

Thanks 4 helping! Are you implying just over 4 seconds to be fast or slow?

What does the tracing route information mean?

    Clayton James

    (@claytonjames)

Your site seemed to load pretty normally for me. Nothing to make me think it was unusually long.

As for the trace route and ping information, I would only be guessing if I said it’s possible that the information may just be an indication of how your host may be handling traffic.

    hmm, I see…

Wow, I’m at a loss though. AT times, it can be slow for me. Others, not so much. I heard from someone that on their iPad it’s really slow…

    By SuperCache you mean WP-Super-Cache?

There’s also W3 Total Cache (which works better for some people). You may also want to look into minimization.

    Thread Starter dddwrdpress

    (@dddwrdpress)

    Yes, it’s WP Super Cache…
