  • Is the new post linked to one of your earlier posts?

If you use a relative url to the old post, WP won’t do the ping.

    miklb,

The email part does not bother me, just when it pingback from my own blog on the comment sections of the post.

    HandySolo,

Now that you mention that I link to a different post on my own blog to a different post, yes I did that.
What is the best way to prevent that?

When you link to a post on your own site -and- you don’t want the automatic pingback, just use a relative link.

    For example:

If the post url is “http://myblog.com/blog/post_name”
don’t enter it as such in the “create link” dialog (or in the <a href...> if you’re a hand coder.

Instead, enter it without the leading http and domain. So, “/blog/post_name” would work. Now that’s a relative link — it still will point to the other post, but WP won’t send the pingback.

    Thanks for the advice HandySolo…

Go ahead and use absolute links, as long as you have this plugin: No Self Pings
